If you need to convert other video formats, you should look at another program. VirtualDub is best at converting codecs within AVI video files. Having said that, we had problems opening DV AVI captures in VirtualDub. You can also combine separate video files and resize videos. It has batch-processing capabilities for processing large numbers of files and can be extended with third-party video filters. Store MKV/MP4 to external drive, or burn to disc for archives - or better yet, both.
